Fomer Standard Media Editor dies

Joseph Nugi who was an Ex- Standard Media editor died on Thursday May, 7, while undergoing treatment at Holy Family Hospital in Githunguri Kiambu county.

His death was reported by The Standard on Friday May ,8. According to the report, he worked for 20 years as a senior editor before retiring in 1993. He was in charge of newsroom as editorial chief.

The long serving editor was a pioneer of media freedom which was curtailed during the regime of the late president Daniel Arap Moi.

According to his tribute, he is praised as man of few words, intelligent and hardworking. "He was a man of few words who has felt mostly by desk editors who sought his guidance in headline writing that was his key speciality ,"

He will be buried on Friday, May 8, at his home in Kiambu county. His death is a great loss to all Kenyans. We have lost such a brilliant personnel who has served his country for many years. We should therefore support his family and friends in prayers as they go under this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace
