The government recently appointed and deployed new Assistant County Commissioners to the Rift Valley region following the creation of new administrative units in the region as the country gears for the next general elections.
Among the 200 newly recruited commissioners is 24 year old Rehema Kiteto who is arguably the youngest national government administration officer in the country, a post she got after applying through the Public Service Commission last year.
She worked as a print journalist with Standard media group in Nakuru county but had held positions as a supervisor in the Kazi Mtaani project in Kwale and was the Kwale Youth Assembly Deputy Speaker.
Rehema had dreams of vying for the Member Of County Assembly position for the Chegoni/Samburu ward in Kwale County in the 2022 general elections where she had hoped to utilize her skills as a social worker to make a difference in her community.
Now as an Assistant County Commissioner, posted in Bomet central, Ms. Kiteto has been tasked with coordinating government projects in the area, articulating government agendas and solving disputes.
“I have always been fascinated about service to the people, it is my passion. And leadership is about service, which I have been a part of all my life. I saw the advertisement and immediately applied for it. I then crossed my fingers because I had no connections, save for the fact that I met all the qualifications as listed," she said.
Here are the beautiful photos of Rehema Kiteto, the youngest national government administration officer in the country.
