Today, Franklin Mghalu, a former deputy commander of the armed forces, was appointed by outgoing president Uhuru Kenyatta to serve as chairwoman of the Kenya National Shipping Line Board for a three-year term. After the conclusion of the general elections, Kenya will soon have a new leader.
"After 9.8.2022, don't accept any appointments made by Uhuru Kenyatta. You run the risk of unwarranted embarrassment."
The appointment is made after a new president is elected, and it could not be good for him, the lawyer claims. The president will remain in office until a replacement is sworn in, it should be stressed. However, he can no longer accomplish some things and his powers are now constrained. The constitution places restrictions on his ability to carry out specific tasks.
