There was riots at Kianyaga town, Kirinyaga county, when unruly youth rioted against Governor Anne Waiguru before the Deputy President William Ruto made his way to Kirinyaga.

The youth set on fire all campaign jackets belonging to governor Waiguru and vowed to block her from addressing any DP Ruto's rally in the county today.

Police had a hard time containing the angry group with the administrators' plea with them to calm down falling on deaf ears.

There was calmness before the drama when a group of governor Waiguru supporters arrived in the town and randomly started distributing the jackets to locals.

The group was cornered by youths who grabbed the jackets from them and set them ablaze in the middle of the road.

Waiguru's supporters who were tasked to distribute the jackets watched helplessly as the jackets were reduced to ashes.

Those who spoke to this reporter said that they were angered by the governor's leadership citing lack of development.

"We shall not relent until we make sure Waiguru will not address any of the DP Ruto's rally, she has completely failed us ," said one of the local.

DP Ruto is set to address several rallies in Kirinyaga county today after church service at ACK Kianyaga.

Both Governor Waiguru and the county Woman Representative Purity Ngirici have accompanied DP Ruto.
