The selection of Kenya Kwanza's Rigathi Gachagwa and Azimio's Martha Karua as presidential running mates has sparked debate on both sides of the political aisle.
Recent Tifa polls show Raila Odinga's choice of Martha Karua enthralling Kenyan voters, with him outperforming Ruto by 38 to 35 percent.
This indicates that Karua was successful in persuading a group of undecided voters to join the azimio la umoja one Kenya alliance. Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagwa, on the other hand, does not appear to be inspiring any additional support for Ruto's position beyond what he already has.
He will, however, be crucial in retaining the DP's massive following in Mount Kenya. Only 35% of female voters support Karua, compared to 32% of male voters.
