The Speaker of the National Assembly has broken his silence over the discussion on the Constitution Amendment Bill 2020, a day after Siaya County Assembly voted to pass the report.
Speaking with NTV on Thursday, Muturi disclosed that the counties are in a position to discuss and vote in support or against the BBI draft bill for a period of a month, as there were no amendments to make.
"Once it is read the first time in the National Assembly, it will be taken to the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee, I expect two to three weeks they bring their report.." Muturi posed.
With the discussions set to be a heated debate in the assembly, Muturi vowed to stand firm in ensuring that insults ad chaos from legislators will not be tolerated in the assembly.
Speaking of the drama incidence that took place on Monday by MPs Sylvanus Osoro and Simba Arati while attending a burial ceremony in Kisii, Muturi stated that lawmakers should be aware that there are consequences they might face, and which might affect their career progression , something that is not a wish for most of them.
