Nairobi gubernatorial race was between Johnson Sakaja of United Democratic Alliance(UDA) and Pokycarp Igathe of Azimio La Umoja One Kenya party. Despite Sakaja's degree saga that disrupted his campaign journey to be Nairobi governor, Sakaja has won the seat with large numbers.
The outgoing Nairobi governor defeated Igathe by getting 811, 734 votes ahead their competitors. Sakaja will be taking over Nairobi from governor Anne Kananu. His position as Nairobi senator will be taken by Edwin Sifuna who won senatorial race on ODM party against UDA's candidate.
In Mathare constituency, Bahati lost the seat to Anthony Oluoch of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party. Bahati garnered 8,166 votes in Mathare against 28,098 votes of the winner of the seat. Back in campaigns, Bahati was advised to drop his bid for the position to support Oluoch but insisted to vie for it. He has now emerged behind the winner with below 10,000 votes.
