Probable Reason Why Leaders Made This Crucial Changes In The Early Years Of Kenya's Independence

Kenya gained it's independence in 1963. Mr Jomo Kenyatta was became the head of State and Jaramogi Oginga as the vice president. During those years Africans were determined to secure their continent from the influence of Europeans. Pan Africanism were the tool that was used to free Africans from the colonialism. The Pan Africanism also was keen in promoting African culture and beliefs.

The way of Pan Africanism made many African leaders to drop christian name because of being associated with Europeanism. This is why leaders like Jomo Kenyatta dropped his christian name 'johnstone', Jaramogi Oginga dropped his "Adonijah' . The same was done Mwai Kibaki who dropped his christian name 'Emilio'.

They probably did this to set a good example to their fellow Africans that they did not support European influence or culture. Most of the developed nations preserved their culture. This included their language and even names. Why most undeveloped nations have adopted foreign culture and even foreign religions and names?
