All Set for Much Anticipated Raila’s Meeting with The Kikuyu Council of Elders in Nyeri

Chief Opposition Leader Raila Odinga is set to meet with the Kikuyu Council of Elders after the first scheduled meeting was cancelled. The meeting which was to take place on 14th November was cancelled after President Uhuru banned all gatherings in bid to reduce spread of Covid-19 virus. The meeting was to follow another one held at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga’s home in Bondo in October.

According to a publication done by the Star, the much-anticipated visit by ODM leader Raila Odinga and Luo elders to Nyeri has now been pushed to mid-January next year.

The hosts, the Kikuyu Council of Elders said they settled on the period hoping that cases of Covid-19 will have reduced significantly by then.

However, uncertainties towards the meeting are still high after Majority of Kikuyu Elders disowned the first meeting at Bondo. The Elders who are known as ‘Kiama Kia Ma’ said they were not part of the function at Raila’s home.

Through the bonafide Kikuyu Council of Elders Chairman Maigua, distanced themselves from Raila and the meeting.
