She was one of the most powerful women around former President Uhuru Kenyatta. And even after the exit of the country's fourth President, she has found herself in the new regime of President William Ruto.
In the Jubilee Government, Dr Monica Juma had Uhuru's ear. She started the Jubilee Government as Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Interior. She would later be moved to Foreign Affairs before being elevated to the position of Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary at the beginning of Uhuru's second term in office.

After that, she was moved to the powerful and sensitive Defence docket. Dr Juma would wind up her stint in Uhuru's government as Energy CS.
As Ruto took over, she was surprisingly picked for a powerful cabinet level appointment in the Kenya Kwanza Government. Today, she is one of Dr Ruto's senior most and highly trusted advisors.
As the President's security advisor, Dr Juma is a key member of the Ruto inner circle. Today, she is always part of Ruto's entourage whenever he tours a foreign country.
At a time the President is making the voice of Kenya count in regional matters especially on matters to do with security, Dr Juma is one person he can turn to for counsel and advices.
