William Samoei Ruto came into the office in 2013 when him and Uhuru Kenyatta were elected to form the government. They also won in 2017 and constitutionally Uhuru Kenyatta is set to leave the office. Dp. Ruto and the president staged an agreement that Uhuru Kenyatta was to support him in 2022.
It seems that the tune has changed and there are higher chances that His excellency the president might not support him in the coming general election. Ruto is still strong despite the humiliation between him and his boss and still stands a chance to be the strongest presidential candidate in 2022.
The only Mistake that the deputy president escaped despite the intensed pressure from his rivals is denying to resign as the deputy president of the republic of Kenya. Ruto seems to have learnt from the mistake that Mzee Jaramogi Oginga Odinga did in 90s.
When Jaramogi resigned he automatically buried his dream to take the office of the president. Ruto has learnt from this and refused to resign however how harsh he might be treated by other top leaders.
If Ruto resigns it means that he might be betraying millions of Kenyans that voted for him and this might make people to avoid him. This has maintained him as one of the strongest political leader. Ruto still enjoys the previledges of the state and this will easily win more people ahead of the 2022 general election.
