Siaya senator James Orengo has encountered ridicule from a section of Kenyans after he posted a message which broached a subject of unity endeavours advanced by the former prime minister Raila Odinga.
They scoffed at Orengo for engaging in fruitless consolation that Raila had gained foot in Mt Kenya region and would receive support for his 2022 State House ambitions. They reminded him that deputy president Dr William Ruto William Ruto was the region's choice since they had already made up their mind. Others informed him that the former prime minister would never be elected as president in future.
This follows after the vocal senator, in his official Facebook page expressed gratitude to Nyeri residents for welcoming Raila and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) politicians for unity discussion ahead of 2022 general election.
"A united and peaceful country is what we aspire for; it's a dream that is achievable. In unity there is development and growth. Asanteni sana Nyeri County for the warm welcome," read Orengo's post.
Raila and ODM are advancing a rallying call referred to as "Azimio la umoja" which seeks to unify the country ahead of next year's polls. They are urging Kenyans to unite in a bid to vote as a consolidated block in 2022 for Raila's presidency which would bring peace and development to them, in their observation.
The team is relying on president Uhuru Kenyatta's support in 2022 for them to form the next government courtesy of 2018 handshake between the two leaders, Uhuru and Raila.
