Political Expert Dr Joseph Rotich has 'lauded' Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka over his decision to turn down a job offer to work with President William Ruto in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance government.
While attending a church service in Kitui County yesterday, Ruto revealed that he had a meeting with the Ukambani kingpin days after he assumed office as the fifth president, in bid to work with Kalonzo, but he down down the opportunity saying that he wanted to serve the counry from the opposition wing.
According to Rotich who spoke with KBC Channel One on Monday, Kalonzo's biggest mistake and that would sent him to political oblivion even before the 2027 general elections would be agreeing to join KKA team.
In his view, Kalonzo will have a good space to engage with Kenyans while in opposition, compared to if he decided to work with Ruto who will most likely be eyeing his second term in 2027.
"Kalonzo is a seasoned politician who even had an interest in contesting for the presidency in the August 2022 polls before he supported Raila Odinga. In what he is doing so far, Kalonzo's eyes are fixed on the 2027 elections, and there is a situation whereby his relation with Raila is providing him a very strong support."
"Kalonzo is placing himself to inherit Raila's 'constituency.' If Kalonzo joins Ruto today, his political future is done since in 2027 the president will be going for his second term. Can Kalonzo join Ruto and wait to contest in 2032? Not really."
