I Want All Of You To Be My Soldiers But You Must Have A 'Gun And A Bullet' - Raila To Isiolo Residents

The ODM Party leader Raila Odinga yesterday told Isiolo residents to come out and register as voters.

Speaking at Isiolo police grounds yesterday, the presidential hopeful urged the youth to volunteer and come out in large numbers to apply for Identity Cards and register as voters to back his presidential ambitions.

“I want all of you to be my soldiers but you must have a gun and a bullet,” Mr Odinga told Isiolo residents in reference to IDs and voter cards.

The former Prime minister who was accompanied by lawmakers together with five governors from various parts of the country, said when elected the fifth President, his government will create a Youth Ministry and National Youth Council for empowerment of the young generations.

Mr Odinga also said each vulnerable family across Kenya will pocket Sh6000 per month to prevent them from dying out of hunger.

The former Prime minister also said that when elected the country's fifth President, a social welfare program would be launched, targeting about 8 million youths within a span of one year.

According to the ODM Party boss, this programme would seek to break the gap of poverty gap across the country.

His main rival DP Ruto, who is currently in a four-day visit at the coastal region, heckled Mr Odinga telling him the youths, more so, the job seekers, are not interested in handouts but jobs.

"My brother Raila Odinga should know that our needs employment not handouts," DP Ruto said.
