Ahmednasir Abdullahi, senior counsel, has reacted to Cabinet Secretary for Treasury Ukur Yatani's endorsement of Raila Odinga's presidential bid.
The outspoken lawyer argued that Yatani had the right to express his opinion while also advancing President Uhuru's agenda; however, he questioned the significance of this endorsement. He wondered if Kenyans had sought Yatani's opinion on the upcoming presidential elections, and how the top cabinet secretary learned that Raila is best suited to succeed Uhuru.
Yatani argued in a local daily that the former prime minister is the only one who can steer Kenya's economy to a higher level after Uhuru retires in August.
Yatani is one of several cabinet secretaries who have openly supported Raila's presidential bid. Others include Interior and Coordination of National Government CS Matian'gi and ICT CS Mucheru, who have remained loyal to Raila despite criticism.
