Raila Told Some Voters Are Very Mad And Will Leave The Presidential Vote Vacant Over Six-Piece Push

Raila Odinga's popularity and influence in the Nyanza region is second to none. He has been the kingpin of the region after succeeding his father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga in the 1990s. The Azimio la Umoja leader is currently battling it out for the presidential seat with Kenya Kwanza's William Ruto and many others.

However, Odinga also realises that in order for him to rule successfully if he clinches the seat, he must have very many loyal members in the National Assembly. Raila believes that this loyalty will come from members of his Orange Demecratic Party hence has asked Nyanza people to only vote for his party's candidates.

Recently, Tom Ojanga a KANU candidate vying for the Homa Bay senate seat against ODM's Moses Kajawang' registered his displeasure with Raila's move. He even went further and warned Raila Odinga that some people are very angry and may only vote for the county seats leaving the presidential vote vacant.

Mr. Ojanga was quoted saying, "Some people are so mad that they will only vote for county seats and leave alone the presidential vote. Raila endorsing ODM candidates is a sign that he does not care for the people. He should let voters decide who to elect. It creates a picture that Raila will not work with other people and this can affect his votes.

It is very important for party presidential flagbearers to respect the will of the people. Some people take their right to choose county leaders as very important than even choosing the national leaders. This is because the Governor and MCAs are very close to the people and really understand what they need. If you force a bad leader on them, they may retaliate by not even waking up to vote because their favourite leader is not on the ballot.
