Gor Mahia have raised their concern over 20 percent taxation that is to be imposed on betting companies. In a joint statement with Fc Leopards, the two clubs on behalf of other football clubs of all tiers have requested the government to abolish the enactment of the tax duty into law because the teams are experiencing hard financial times due to effect of Covid-19 that left fans suspended from stadiums.
In addition, the clubs have fears that the betting companies which are sponsoring them may stop their parnerships due to tax burden when the bill is enacted into law. This will in return affect the clubs operations as well as the 2022 league.
