ODM party leader Raila Odinga on Thursday morning had a radio interview with Spice FM and later another interview on Inooro FM. He condemned the attack on his convoy during the recent Githurai rally and urged Mount Kenya residents to allow him to market BBI in the region just like any other part of the country. He observed that the rowdy youths at Githurai had been incited and paid by some political figures.
The former prime minister then took time to deconstruct deputy president William Ruto and his hustler narrative. He submitted to residents that Ruto is still the same and lacks the capacity to deliver just like in the 2013 and 2017 promises. He reminded them that Ruto promised their class one children laptops that he is yet to deliver to date. Raila appealed to the Mount Kenya region to reject Ruto’s wheelbarrow gospel since it is only meant to fool them after failing to keep his pledges of one million yearly decent jobs and other youth empowerments.
“These people have been making wild allegations against us (ODM) that we disrupted the agenda of the Jubilee government. They have been going around preaching the ''hustler'' narrative. What I have been telling the DP is that what he is saying is not new. He promised laptops to Class One pupils who are now in Class 8. And now he is promising them wheelbarrows. I have been responding to the DP and not criticizing President Uhuru Kenyatta,” said Raila Odinga on the radio.
He distanced himself from 2022 politics while affirming that he has no intentions of using BBI for self-political gains. He warned the listeners against Ruto who is telling them to reject BBI yet they stand to gain the most from the BBI. Giving Siaya county as an example, Raila noted that the other parts of the country have rejected Ruto’s incites against BBI and are now passing it after discovering what it will offer to them.
The ODM chief urged central residents to rally behind their kingpin President Uhuru Kenyatta and support him since he means well for the region. He promised to meet and talks to them in detail about BBI in his upcoming rallies while asking them to be wary of Ruto and his allies who oppose BBI and yet they clearly know it will transform the nation.
