Muranga Governor, Mwangi Wa Iria has finally decided to declare his presidential bids after meeting the current and former leaders who are seeking to run on Usawa Kwa Wote party ticket in the coming general election. Yesterday after meeting leaders from the Caostal region, Mwangi Wa Iria has promised to unite all the Mount Kenya voters ahead of the next year's polls. Iria has stated that he is now ready to face the ODM chief Hon. Raila Odinga and DP Ruto in the presidential contest.
The vocal Governor said that his party, Usawa Kwa Wote has the concerns of this nation and is ready to work towards reviving the economy and improving living standards of the people of Kenya. Mwangi Kamau who is a Mombasa businessman from the Coast and a party coordinator said that the Coastal region will support the presidential campaigns of Hon. Iria as he has always stood with the hawkers and empowered the dairy farmers.
Other Coast leaders who were present during the meeting were Mr. Obadiah Mwangangi and 'Mzee' Abdullahi Mohammed. Mr. Mwangangi who is a handcraft operator based at the Coast said that in the duration the second-term governor served at the Council of Governors as the vice-chairman, hawkers in the coastal area were spared the pain of being harassed out of the streets by the county government enforcement units.
Mwagangi said that in his tour of the region, they listened to his visions and found that it is worthwhile as compared to other presidential candidates who are more interested in playing politics than lifting the living standards of the people. Iria has at one time hit out at a section of Mount Kenya leaders for failing to support their own to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Governor Mwangi Wa Iria stated that in the of history of Kenya since 1992, Mount Kenya region has been producing presidential candidates and it will be unfair this time round that the people of the region are out to sell their voters. Iria said this after meeting opinion leaders from Nyeri and Laikipia counties.
