Ever since she took over power, she appeared as though she will just follow in the footsteps of her predecessor John pombe Magufuli.
However, president Samia Suluhu seems ready and parepared to do things in a different way from Magufuli's modus operandi.
The area where she has totally departed from the norm in Tanzania is when she Announced today that she will form a covid-19 task force to guide her administration on the status of the pandemic in the country.
Suluhu said today that Tanzania can't isolate itself from what is happening across the world adding that Tanzania will have to take a clear position on COVID-19 pandemic.
“Hatuwezi kujitenga kama kisiwa na hatuwezi kupokea tu yanayoletwa bila kuweka cha kwetu, bila kufanya utafiti wa kwetu. Rais (Jakaya) Kikwete alituambia akili za kuambiwa… kwa hivyo tuweke na zetu, tuwe na msimamo maalum ambao unaeleweka,” said Suluhu as quoted by Citizen TV.
The president said this during the swearing in ceremony of newly appointed gorvenment officials at state house in Dare-slaam.
The country stopped issuing covidy update in may 2020 whereby it had recorded 509 cases and 21 deaths with the late Magufuli playing down the threath of COVID-19.
Her announcement has Elicited mixed reactions with some netizens praising her for what they called deconstruction of Magufulism.
Others however expressed fears that this may be one way of justifying overspending where as others decried that this will lead Tanzania into imperialism lamenting that Magufuli died with good Leadership.
