Prof Makau Mutua Says No Elections Will Be Held in 2027 If the 4 IEBC Commissioners are Removed

Kenya is a sovereign state that is guided by a new Constitution which clearly says that the general elections in the country should be held after every five years to give citizens their democratic rights of choosing their own leaders.

This morning, renowned political analyst Prof Makau Mutua has said that no election will take place if the four independent electoral and boundaries commission (iebc) commissioners will be removed from office.

Prof Mutua who is also a close ally of the opposition leader has made the sentiments where he said "UDA needs to know that if through a Kangaroo process in parliament or without it dismisses and replaces the IEBC four that the 2027 elections, and any by elections won't take place. Period."

The remarks by Prof Mutua comes as a result of the four commissioners led by the vice chair Juliana Cherera appeared before the Justice and Legal Affairs committee to face the petition that is seeking to remove them from office.
