Kirinyaga Women Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici has broken her silence moments after governor Anne Waiguru mulled over joining United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party associated with deputy president Dr William Ruto before 2022.
In a coded message to Waiguru, Ngirici noted that UDA party now enjoys almost an absolute dominance in Mt Kenya region and the locals had decided to select it as their preferred political outfit.
Further, in a thinly-veilled ridicule at the embattled county boss, the lawmaker quipped that she had seen the light as the 2022 general election approaches. She likened Waiguru to the biblical ancient Egyptian king Pharaoh who had finally learnt the truth.
"Mount Kenya is 100% UDA.The 'Pharaohs' of our times are slowly seeing the light~PWN," read Ngirici's Facebook post.
The comes moments after Waiguru hinted that she could join UDA at an appropriate time. A video of her latest declaration was widely shared on social media where she was heard addressing Kirinyaga county residents in one of her development tours.
In the video, the governor was heard asking the locals on their most preferred political party so that he could seek its ticket and use it to defend her seat next year. The locals were heard shouting 'UDA' and urging Waiguru to join the outfit. The governor then argued that she would abide by their instructions.
Ngirici has declared interest in Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat. She is Dr Ruto's closest ally in the county and a key politician in UDA party. If Waiguru joins the party, they will be battling it out for the ticket during the primaries.
