Most citizens are of the thought that the government does not care about the common man and are out of touch with the plight of its electorate.

Following this out cry, Government Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has come out to defend his boss. He sort to set the record straight in a bid to absolve President Uhuru Kenyatta from the blame game over the high cost of living.

During an interview on Wednesday 6th July that was conducted at Radio Citizen, Oguna said it was very unfair to put the blame on the head of state. Oguna was quick to chastise all the people that were blaming President Uhuru.

He pointed out that the high cost of living being experienced in Kenya was not unique to the country. He pointed out an example of Tanzania where her president has told citizens to brace of tough times as the cost of living was bound to increase.

"It is not fair to put this blame on one person, it is not the President. There is a neighbouring country where the president told citizens to expect a rise in cost of living, they understood. But here we are blaming Uhuru. It is not him, he has no individual powers,” Oguna said.

He also sought to defend the handshake between president Uhuru Kenyatta and Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

He credited the handshake for the peace being witnessed in the country. He continued to say due to the handshake, alot of development projects had been finalised and others were nearing completion.
