Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has told Deputy President William Ruto to be careful with his Mt Kenya friends as a big number of them could be lying to him. Mutahi Ngunyi wonders who leaked the audio of DP’s meeting with Kikuyu elders that saw heated political arguments in the country all over the weekend.

Mr Ngunyi says that the incident reveals that there are moles in DP Ruto’s camp who are leaking things that are said in confidentiality to people who do not need to hear them. According to Mutahi Ngunyi, this is something that should worry Ruto as it clearly indicates that there are people in Ruto’s camp who are out to tarnish his name. The leaked audio clip involved DP Ruto and Kikuyu Council of Elders.

The leaked audio according to Ngunyi means that some people from Mt Kenya who claim that are good supporters of Ruto are lying to him and taking things that should only between them to those who can twist it. Ngunyi says that what happened over the weekend indicates that some Mt Kenya elders in Ruto team are lying to him and are likely to disappoint him on 9th August when Kenyans go to vote.

“The Ruto audio of slapping Uhuru is clear, however, there is no video accompanying it. Why? Who is responsible for the leak? Was it the Deputy President or some spies in the Kikuyu Council of Elders? The Mt Kenya people continue to lie to Ruto and August 9th will show Kenyans the truth. I am a proud Kikuyu,” Mutahi Ngunyi has said.
