Succession has been a great content in Kenyan politics. The sitting leadership at times contributes to the formation of succeeding office through endorsement however, this solely depends on their motive.
In Homabay county where there are five major candidates, that is; Hon. John Mbadi, Hon. Gladys Wanga, Dr. Evance Kidero, former MP Oyugi Magwanga and Senator Moses Kajwang, the contest has been stirred with alot of mixed reactions from voters as to who will pick the mantle for Cyprian Awiti.
However, the analogy revolving around " system and deep state" has not been left behind due to perceived network of the aspiring candidates. Hon. John Mbadi is the sitting member of parliament of Suba south and also the ODM party Chair, Gladys Wanga also is the women representative for Homabay county while Moses Kajwang' is the senator for Homabay county.
It is observed that John Mbadi would be having higher portion share in three major subcounties that is; Ndhiwa, Suba South and Suba North due to his unending projects, harambee contributions and other connections in these areas. In these regard Moses Kajwang' who hails from Suba North must dig deeper in the remaining subcounties inorder to put contents in his basket which ofcourse would not be easy since Gladys Wanga is the immediate neighbour who is also believed to hold a great stand of supporters from Rangwe and Rachuonyo sub-counties.
On the other hand, Dr. Evance Kidero who is also a resident of Rangwe constituency is a bottle neck for Wanga due to his outstanding reputation in this constituency. How the political wave shall turn towards Gladys Wanga will only be determined by how Mbadi with whom eyes are cast on shall also stage himself in Rangwe Subcounty to market himself.( Opinion)
