Dp Ruto Takes An Early Lead As IEBC Prepares To Announce The Winner Of This Year's Contest

With 29 constituencies remaining, according to preliminary results announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Ruto was ahead of Raila Odinga of the Azimio La Umoja.

Who will follow Uhuru Kenyatta as Kenya's fifth president will be determined by the final results, which are anticipated to be announced later on Monday by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati, the Returning Officer.

Prior to the official announcement, security was increased at the Bomas of Kenya and other key facilities in the nation's capital, Nairobi, as well as other regions.

Out of 291 constituencies, the Commission had verified and conveyed results by Monday morning at 7 a.m.

If the results verification exercise is completed on schedule, according to sources at the commission, Chebukati might pull off a surprise and release the results on Monday.

However, Chebukati has stated in the past, "I will only disclose the results in broad daylight and not at night." This would significantly depend on the availability of time.
