Uhuru's Right Hand Man Clarifies Travel Restrictions Imposed by The President

President Uhuru's chief of staff Nzioka Waita with Interior CS Fred Matiang'i

President Uhuru Kenyatta's chief of staff Nzioka Waita has come out to clarify the misunderstanding about the travel restrictions imposed by the president.

In his speech president Kenyatta zoned out five counties namely Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Kajiado and Nakuru where movement in and out was restricted starting midnight of March 26,2021.

Most netizens were left wondering whether the restriction demanded that residents of each of the five counties stayed within their county or not.

In his clarification Waita wrote on twitter and to relief of those working in Nairobi but living in the zoned block, he confirmed that the restriction allowed movement within the zoned block.

"Kindly note that the Cessation of Movement is in and out of the 5 counties (Nairobi, Nakuru, Kiambu, Machakos, and Kajiado) as One Zoned Area. You can therefore move freely within the five counties. You will not however be able to leave and enter the One Zoned Area," Waita shared on twitter.

The president noted that the restrictions were to help in trying to reduce the circulation of Covid 19 from the said counties to the rest of the country which are currently most affected.
