Raila Odinga, who is said to have the endorsement of President Kenyatta, has been identified as his greatest rival. He and Raila will be the candidate to beat in 2022.
The Azimio la Umoja troops met earlier today in Naivasha to reiterate their commitment to ensuring Raila becomes president of Kenya.
More than 30 governors attended the meeting from different parts of the country. The governor of Mombasa was among those who addressed the press, using the opportunity to attack the Deputy President.
In a statement, Joho claimed that the Council of Governors had received critical intelligence that Ruto has plans in place to kill devolution once he takes office. Joho didn't provide details about the plot but said the Deputy President has a plan in place to kill it.
Joho says this is the reason why most governors have decided to support Raila's presidential bid.
