Amason Jeff Kingi, the governor of Kilifi, is currently trending on social media amid rumors that he has left the Kenya Kwanza Alliance after skipping all of Ruto's rallies last week in the coastal area. Last month, Kingi, a devoted supporter of Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga, shocked many by leaving the alliance and joining forces with Ruto.Being the party leader of the Pamoja African Alliance (PAA), one of the most well-liked politicians in the area, and having been promised cabinet positions should the Alliance establish the next administration, he joined the vice presidency. Kingi has received criticism from his adversaries who charge him with treason and lack of political stance. After announcing in a press release that he is not joining the Azimio coalition as most had assumed, the incumbent Governor today silenced his critics and declared his unwavering support for William Ruto and the entire KKA team. He denied the assertions that his absence was a conscious decision, stating that he had family things to attend to and was away from Kilifi County for seven days as a result.
