On Friday, President William Ruto addressed the stage and reacted angrily to ODM party leader Raila Odinga's criticism of nine politicians who had recently visited him.
"These elected officials should not be vilified for uniting in the name of progress and togetherness. It is elected leaders' post-election responsibility to act in the interests of the nation and put disagreements aside "He stated.
The ODM party has recently taken disciplinary action against so-called dissident MPs, including sending show-cause letters; however, President Ruto opposes this move.
"We need to encourage open dialogue and collaboration across party lines. No one should be penalised for peacefully striving to bridge the gap between politicians and the general public. The days of opposition are passed, and the people of this country are now calling for a united effort for the benefit of all."
