Embu Governor Martin Wambora was forced to intervene for peace after violence broke out at Raila's stopover at Runyenjes in Embu County.
The crowd who had gathered to welcome Raila Odinga clashed with opponents who were heckling the Governor as he tried to give out an address.
"Tumekuja na amani na hatutaki vita," Wambora intervened
After Wambora's plea failed, chaos erupted and some were forced to flee for safety.
A few minutes later,calm was restored and the campaign rally proceeded peacefully.
ODM leader Raila Odinga has been on a two day visit to Mt.Kenya East region where he began his function at Meru then Tharaka Nithi and is set to complete visit at Embu County.
The former Prime Minister received a major boost after Mt.Kenya East political bigwigs endorsed his 2022 Presidential bid.
Rail however received hostile reception at some parts of Meru and Tharaka Nithi where the crowd chanted pro-Ruto slogans.
