New allegations on presidential results are still be aimed at independent electoral and boundary commission ( IEBC) vice- Chairperson Juliana Cherera and commissioners Irene Masit, Francis Wanderi and Justus Nyang' aya.
Testifying before Aggrey Muchelule' s led tribunal, the electoral body chief executive officer Marjan Hussein Marjan revealed what IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati did immediately Cherera and team tried to force for a presidential re- run at Bomas of Kenya.
Marjan disclosed that Chebukati' s fallout with ' Cherera four' came as a result of 233, 000 margin votes which according to four dissenting IEBC commissioners, Raila Odinga and William Ruto were to go for a re- run to have a noticeable margin.
After their demand, it' s claimed that Chebukati immediately said he would not do any alterations or moderations of the results and further asked those who agree with results to follow him as he declares them, a chance Juliana and team used to get to Serena Hotel and disowned the presidential results for being ' opaque' .
" The issue was that 233, 000 votes were too small and we needed to give them a second chance for them to go for a re- run" , he said before the tribunal which is expected to resume sitting from January 23- 27 for more hearings.
It should be noted that Masit is the only IEBC commissioner who is yet to resign from the ' Cherera Four' squad.
They also noted that Masit was present in the tallying center throughout. That how the four decided to change their mind was very strange. They took the decision very fast that those who remained did not even know it.
According to the IEBC CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan that all the commissioners were together and united at noon on the day when the results were to be announced.
The commissioners did split when the results were finally out at around 3pm. The chairman of the IEBC had then rejected a proposal to try and do anything to mobilize the results and that is when the 4 decided to split and go their way even to hold a press conference.
