Kisumu Governor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o has urged newly appointed County Executive Committee (CEC) Members to embrace what he termed as Result Based Management (RBM) in a bid to help him deliver on his manifesto.
Nyong’o is serving his second term in office, after being re-elected on the ODM party ticket during the August 2022 polls.
In a speech read on his behalf by Deputy Governor Mathews Ochieng Owili during the CECs performance contract signing in Kisumu on Monday morning, the governor said residents of the Lakeside County are interested in results, not processes.
“I therefore appeal to the newly appointed County Executive Committee Members and everyone else working in my government to embrace Result Based Management (RBM) and performance oriented culture based on results rather than processes,” said the governor.
“There will be monthly projects implementation and status report meetings chaired by myself and must be attended by all CEC Members and their Chief Officers in person,” he added.
According to the County Chief, his administration will lay emphasis on the implementation of uncompleted projects, urging members of his cabinet to ensure they implement their contracts to the latter.
The new CECs were sworn-in on December 06, 2022, after being approved by the Kisumu County Assembly. Only 8 out of the 10 CECs signed their contracts, as two were out in Nairobi on official duty.
George Omondi Okong’o of Finance, Economic Planning and ICT (E-government) and Salmon Orimba of Infrastructure, Energy and Public Works are the ones who missed the event.
The rest, namely Judith Anyango (Public Service), Kennedy Hongo (Lands, Physical Planning), Gregory Ganda (Public Health and Sanitation), Maryline Agwa (Water, Environment), Kenneth Onyango (Agriculture, Fisheries), Faridah Salim (Trade, Tourism), John Awiti (Education) and Beatrice Odongo (Sports) signed their performance contracts.
