A video has emerged on social media showing the tense moment that Azimio La Umoja One Coalition Deputy presidential candidate Martha Karua was whisked from the podium after the explosion occured in kisii.
The Azimio la Umoja Rally ended abruptly after the teargas canister was thrown on the podium as Karua was about to address the residents.
In the clip, Martha had just picked up the microphone when the explosion happened; as she wondered what happened she was immediately taken away to the car by two securities.
She was beside Governor James Ongwae who was left checking what was going on as Karua rushed for safety.
Mama Ida Odinga, the wife to the Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga was also present at the rally.
In addition, investigation by the police have so far revelead that the teargas was being lobbed by a police officer.
There was a running battle in the town after police lobbed teargas at supporters of Ongwae and Arati who clashed at the town centre on the way to stadium.
