Wafula Chebukati's six-year reign will come to an end next Tuesday, the 17th. The Chair of the Independent Electrol and Boundary Commission (IEBC) has presided over three general elections, including a re-run of the 2017 elections. Despite all of Raila's demands for the IEBC Chair to retire before the 2022 election, Chebukati remained in the role till the end.

Wafula Chebukati and his commissioners Abdi Guliye and Molu Boya will leave the electrol body to make way for the whole team of new IEBC Commissioners. This comes after IEBC Vice Chair Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi, and Julius Nyang'anya resigned, leaving only Irene Masit, who is also being removed from the position. And, as part of their retirement compensation, Chebukati and his tem will earn Ksh32 million. Boya and Guliye will each receive 10 million, leaving Chebukati with a 12 million bundle.
