A political battle is brewing in Migori county gubernatorial race as hopefuls are flexing their muscles and using any means possible to succeed the incumbent Governor Zachary Okoth Obado. Gov. Obado who is in his final term in office is staring at a vicious battle between candidates to replace him come August 2022.
Migori County, a political bedroom for ODM Chief Raila Odinga and a stronghold of the ODM party has of late faced political realignment something that is giving Raila and the ODM party a big headache. Okoth Obado who is not in the ODM'S good books has maintained a tight grip in the region and if ODM doesn't plan well Obado might emerge as the de facto leader of the region.
Those eyeing the lucrative county seat are; Sen. Ochillo Ayacko, Dalmas Otieno, Mark Nyamita, John Pesa, businessman Philip Mwabe, WRP Pamela Adhiambo, and Edick Anyanga among others. Most of these hopefuls have accused the county chief of endless corruption in the county stalling development projects that would have propelled the county to greater heights.
However, the ODM party should know Obado is still a force to reckon with in the region, and Obado aka ' Sirkal Matio' (A working government) will surprise Raila and deliver the region's voters to DP Ruto. Nevertheless, they always say the final decision is with the residents of Migori county who will decide their next county chief.
