Why It will take long to convince Mt Kenya that William Ruto is Not the Right Guy

Politics in Kenya is becoming an art whereby those who are talented in speaking and convincing will be loved by the people and will get their support. Currently, Deputy President William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga are going round the country trying to get support from different regions as we near 2022 general election.

In the run up to the 2013 and 2017 general election, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto campaigned together and they got elected together. Everyone saw how Dr Ruto campaigned tirelessly to get his boss and himself to the office. Ruto could visit five different counties for rallies and still got time in the evening to plan for the next day.

President Uhuru Kenyatta's turf came to love the Deputy President so much that they agreed to President Kenyatta's promise that they would back him when Kenyatta's two terms comes to an end. The handshake between the President and Raila Odinga in March 2018 turned the tables. The President and his Deputy started having frosty relationship and lately the two have been seeing less of each other.

The Mount Kenya region still remembers the promise the President gave and they are willing to support the Deputy President to the last man. Raila has been visiting the region but he received resistance from his visits because the Deputy President's name is now a household name in that region.
