Kisumu County Gubernatorial Race:The race is likely going to be tough among these three candidates.

Kisumu county is one of the six counties found in Nyanza region and the county is dominated by the Luo community. In terms of politics, Kisumu county is the homeground of ODM party leader Raila Odinga and ODM is the dominant party in the county.

As we approach the 2022 general elections, the race to dethrone the incumbent Kisumu county governor Prof Peter Anyang Nyong'o has been taking the new shape. The prestigious Kisumu county gubernatorial seat has attracted the likes the former Kisumu county governor Jack Ranguma, former Kisumu West Member of Parliament Ken Obura, Kisumu county Senator Fred Outa, incumbent governor Anyang Nyong'o, Cephas Kasera, Ruth Odinga and Hezron McObewa.

From the current political activities in Kisumu county, the race to clinch to the top seat in the county is likely going to be tough among the current governor Anyang Nyong'o, Jack Ranguma and Ken Obura. Ken Obura is well known for his impressive development records especially in Kisumu West Constituency where he served as an MP. In addition to that, Ken Obura has been moving around the county presiding over many fundraisings.

On the other hand, the former governor Jack Ranguma has been moving around the county to rally support from the residents of Kisumu county. Jack Ranguma will take the advantage of the fallout between Anyang Nyong'o and Senator Fred Outa who really supported Nyong'o in 2017 general elections.

Lastly, the incumbent governor Anyang Nyong'o has the opportunity to use the county recourses to initiate new projects or complete the ongoing projects in the county. This is a big advantage over other aspirants because he will gain more support from the voters who will count on his current developments.
