What You Need To Know About The Aide De Camp's Work In Presidential Security And Other Roles

Whenever the president of Kenya goes, he is always escorted by an aide who stands behind him. Many people confuse the role of this soldier as a bodyguard in charge of the president’s security. However, he plays a ceremonial role and the safety and security of the president is taken care by a Presidential Escort Unit commander who is also a senior assistant police commissioner.

The man who stands behind the president is referred as the Aide-de-Camp. He is always present where the president goes and this gives the head of state dignity and honor. He performs simple and essential tasks for the president which includes; escorting the president, opening the car doors and closing it while standing attention. The ADC also carries personal items for the president which include note books, mobile phones and speeches. He also helps in receiving gifts and other items which are given to the president in official functions and ceremonies. Additional, the person holding the position held of the Aide De Camp must receive formal training in military camps before raising in the ranks to hold this prestigious position.
