Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's top aide Edwin Sifuna has for the first time sent a congratulatory message to Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Deputy President William Ruto on their newfound relationship.
In an interview with a local daily, the Nairobi senatorial aspirant admitted that the Mudavadi and Ruto deal was one of the worst kept secrets in the political space since everyone knew Mudavadi would end up joining Ruto.
Sifuna revealed that the decision by Mudavadi did not pose any threat to the Orange Democratic Movement's political ambitions and admitted that Mudavadi may have committed political suicide by teaming up with the DP.
"It doesn’t, and I want to congratulate them on finally accepting our proposition that 2022 is going to be a two-horse race. They have finally conceded that they were not a horse and have decided to back a horse of their choosing, which is okay. We wish them well and will not begrudge them." Sifuna said.
The Orange Democratic Movement secretary-general also acknowledged that the deal works in their favor since facing a Luhya presidential candidate would have presented more problems because of tribal mobilization.
