Kenyans Not Happy With CS Macharia

CS James Macharia is the minister of sprawling transport, infrastructure, housing, urban development and public works in Kenya. The CS made appointments of three members of the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority Board earlier this week which has had kenyans talking. CS Macharia appointed Mary Wathiegeni Chefs, Zachariah Karenge Mungai and Ronald Ndirangu Ndegwa who are all kikuyus. Kenyans aren't pleased by the tribal bigotry exhibited by the CS. There are 42 different tribes in Kenya yet he decided to only appoint all from one tribe, tribalistic indeed. However people have it as the CS couldn't have done the appointments all by himself without consent of the President who may have given him the list. The action by the CS portray him as defiant, an unapologetic tribalist and a corrupt element in the cabinet. President Uhuru Kenyatta should reprimand him and Macharia reminded that Kenya doesn't belong to kikuyus only. Though those appointed have qualifications for the position, there are many others who have such qualifications and stood a chance too. Action by the CS is stinking tribalism in a country where inclusivity is a constitutional ideal. A cabinet secretary who makes such appointments should be nowhere around the public service. Maybe Macharia doesn't want to strain himself speaking English during board meetings!!
