Amani National Congress Party Leader Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi is famed being a gentleman of Kenyan politics. The Luhya political kingpin has in the recent past been touted as Kenya's best presidential bet for 2022. This came after President Uhuru Kenyatta remarked during the funeral of Mama Hannah Mudavadi that it is high time the country was led by a a president outside the two communities that have dominated the presidency since independence. Mudavadi was playing host to the top leadership of the country when those remarks were made and that sparked calls among the leaders in the region to unite and go to the polls as one block. The remarks bolstered Mudavadi's presidential ambition and has been talking to like minded leaders to form a formidable front to vanguish his competitors at the polls.
As Mudavadi's ambition gains momentum, he has been shocked by residents of Malava constituency is supposedly his political backyard. The residents have come out openly criticising him and casting a shadow on his presidential bid. They accused Mudavadi of having abandoned them when they needed his support the most. They lamented that Musalia has not visited the area even in the event of deaths of some the residents. They renounced their support for him and shifted their allegiance to the Deputy President William Ruto whom they praised for having come to their rescue when Mudavadi had shunned them.
