Update: Ruto Wins Crowds Applauses as He Recognizes Hon Odinga and Ushering Karua to Give Her Speech

At this morning's National Prayer Breakfast, Deputy President William Ruto captured the hearts of Kenyans once more by breaking tradition to recognize his close rival, Hon Raila Odinga, and inviting his running mate, Hon Martha Karua.

Even though Martha Karua had not been scheduled to speak on Raila Odinga's behalf, Senator Samuel Poghisio pushed her onto the stage and allowed her to speak on her behalf.

I want to ask my sister Martha Karua to come and make few statements in the absence of my brother Raila Odinga, who is also my main close challenger in this election," said Ruto as he drew tremendous ovation from those in attendance.

"This morning's prayer breakfast serves as a timely reminder that despite our varying political allegiances and worldviews, we are all one people. Because it is our duty to ensure a peaceful election, I am confident that we will see one. To maintain our unity, we must maintain the belief that this is merely an election "Ruto made the comment.

As for Martha, she thanked Ruto for his support, promising that they will work together to ensure a peaceful election devoid of violence.

Despite the fact that none of us is flawless, Martha prayed for a peaceful election process, saying, "We compete with ideas not insults, none of us is perfect but we pray to God to help us have a peaceful elections,"

Dp and Hon Raila Odinga are both in the running to become Kenya's next president, but who would you vote for? Let us know in the comments below.
