Former Mavoko Constituency aspirant Gilbert Maluki(who became third in the 2022 election) today lectured United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leaders over government appointments during a delegates meeting headed by UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala in Machakos town.
After being invited to the podium to speak, Maluki claimed that those who were appointed by President William Ruto from the region are not enough to represent the Ukambani region.
He told off the leaders who had earlier on expressed there gratitude to the president for awarding two CASs positions to the leaders from the Ukambani region that they need to speak the truth.
Maluki claimed that they expected the president to slap them with at least five CAS slots instead of the two slots awarded by the president.
"Tunataka muambie president Ukweli. CAS tumepewa mbili na sisi Kama Ukambani tulikuwa tunaexpect Tano (We want you to tell the president the truth. We have been given only two CAS slots but as a region we expected around five slots)," Maluki claimed.
He also criticized some of the leaders whom he claimed goes into hiding or are hard to reach instead of helping other people after being awarded the government positions.
Maluki said that they are the people who sacrificed a lot for President Ruto to get votes in a region perceived to be an Azimio stronghold.
"Kuna wale wakishapewa hizo slots hawawezisaidia wengine, wanasima simu. Ulienda Kwa ofisi yao wanakuambia ukuje na appointments (There are those who can't help others once they are given the slots, they switch off their phones. When you go to there office you are told you must have an appointment)," Maluki claimed.
"Haiwezekani. Wale whom we sacrificed a lot lakini wengine wakienda huko wanadhani hizo vitu ni ya mama yao. Hizi vitu sisi ndio tulipigania (It can not be. We are the ones who sacrificed a lot but others think that the seats are there's. We are the ones who fought for the seats)," he added.
