Eighteen candidates were running for president but only three were seen as having a realistic chance. They were Tinubu from the governing All Progressives Congress party (APC), Atiku Abubakar of the main opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the smaller Labour Party (LP).

The presidential campaign council of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to accept defeat and congratulate Bola Tinubu, Nigeria's president-elect, the Cable reports.

Miguna went ahead saying that Atiku lost another election like Raila did in Kenya."Atiku Abubakar is to Nigeria what @RailaOdinga is to Kenya: a perennial loser who never concedes. Atiku has lost another election. He won’t accept the results. I’m not saying the election was credible. I’m saying he lost. But Atiku won’t be organizing a mapambano!"

Mr Tinubu has won just over 44% of the tallied votes. His main rival Atiku Abubakar has almost 33% of the vote.

Labour's Peter Obi has close to 18%, having caused an upset by defeating Mr Tinubu in the biggest city, Lagos.
