The deputy president, William Ruto, ended his Laikipia tour in style where he addressed hundreds of residents who blocked his convoy in Nanyuki town. Ruto in company of other legislators marketed the bottom-up economic model which he intends to use once he ascends to power. The hustler brigade also drummed support for the UDA party.
However, a moment of drama was experienced when Kikuyu member of parliament was invited to address the mammoth. Kimani Ichungw'a went straight to attacking Raila Odinga who made a visit to the same county some two weeks ago.
Kimani Ichungw'a said that Laikipia residents are God fearing and it was unfortunate for Raila to push his 'uganga' rhetorics there. The vocal politician went ahead and posed a question to the crowd if they are the ones who authorized Ndiritu Muriithi (Laikipia governor) to be walking around with Raila.
"The other day I saw your governor walking with Raila telling him that he will get all the Laikipia votes. Are you the ones who had sent him?" Asked the Kikuyu lawmaker.
This question electrified the crowd. Residents waved insinuating that they were not the ones who gave authority to their governor to follow Raila. Others were heard saying that the governor will not be re-elected.
The wild scenes made Ichungw'a pause his speech for a while before resuming. He stated that Mt Kenya region is solidly behind William Ruto and anybody willing to work with the region should team up with the DP. Ichungw'a also castigated the Mt Kenya foundation saying that a few billionaires cannot decide for million of hustlers.
