Aden Duale's new position in parliament.

Aden Duale, Garissa Township Member of Parliament, declared his new function in parliament on December 7 after being ousted from the position of house majority leader.

Hon. Duale announced that he has been appointed to the role of Ranking Member, a new position created by Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Justin Muturi and structured after the American congress house system.

Hon Duale explained that the ranking member position is reserved for members of the August house who have held a constitutional office and comes with several benefits, including the ability to participate on all house committees and serve as an ex-officio member of all sub-committees.

He went on to say that, despite the fact that the seat is unique, he will take a back seat in parliament in his new role, and that that he will will not be as proactive as he was when he was the Majority Leader.

The outspoken MP who claimed to be the voice of government previously recently joined hands with DP William Ruto and the hustler movement in support of Ruto's presidential ambition.
