Prof. Kithure Kindiki, the Interior Cabinet Secretary, has appointed new County Commissioners (CCs) to several counties and replaced all of the presently serving regional commissioners in the eight provinces.
The announcement was made by CS Kindiki on Friday as he appointed new Regional Commissioners (RCs) to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta's predecessors immediately.
The statement read, "To improve service delivery, the following personnel changes have been made at the Ministry of Interior and National Administration with effect from today, December 31, 2022."
"All Regional Commissioners have been brought back to the Ministry Headquarters for further deployment," reads the statement.
These are the new RCs appointed: Rhoda Onyancha represented the Coast, John Otieno represented the Northeast, Paul Rotich represented the East, Fredrick Shisia represented the Central, and Dr. Abdi Hassan represented the Rift Valley.
Samson Irungu represents the Western region; Florah Mworoa represents Nyanza; and Katee Mwanza represents Nairobi.
Anne Ng'etich, who is currently the Secretary for Administration in the State Department for Lands and Physical Planning, was appointed as the new Principal Administrative Secretary (PAS) in his ministry by the CS at the same time.
Beverly Opwora County, the current County Commissioner of Makueni County, was appointed Secretary for Peace Building, and Jacob Namulen, Opwora County's counterpart in Wajir, took over as Secretary for National Administration.
In a similar vein, Prof. Kindiki selected Tom Anjere and William Kaimba to serve as the brand-new County Commissioners for Makueni and Kisii, respectively.
Felix Watakila took over as the new Kajiado county commissioner.
