The secretary general of Central Organisation of Trade Union,COTU has been one of the prominent personalities in the country. He has been dominating news headlines every time he gives out his views especially on national matters. A bold and courageous one,he never hesitates to take on anyone with contrary views. Punctuated by the "Washenzi" word, his rattling address normally sinks deep down the people's hearts, leaving them to discuss about him.One prominent victim of the Trade unions longest serving secretary general in the country is deputy president. No one knows exactly what divided the two men since he would not spare any chance to lash at DP Ruto. According to him,he has nothing personal against DP but only concerned on how he is undermining president Uhuru Kenyatta.
In several occasions,he has described Ruto as a corrupt and impatient leader who will never rule this country. In an escalation of his hate to second in command,he has dared him to resign and run his own parallel government. He has been supportive of the president's move to crack down allies of the DP in different powerful positions. The Member of parliament Aden Duale is another victim of Atwoli's daring speeches. He was once dressed down in public for his opposition to various bills about workers that had been tabled at the parliament. By then,he was the leader of majority in the assembly hence blamed for not allowing the bill to sail in the floor of the house.
He was on record calling for the ouster of Mr Duale even after he had been spared in the first batch against those perceived to be close to DP. Surprisingly,he would later be removed from the coveted seat and replaced by Amos Kimunya.Lawyer Ahmed Nassir is also another man who has also tested Atwoli's medicine in yet another ugly spat. He was accused of conning innocent clients who are in dire need of his legal services. As if that was not enough,he promised to expose his underhand deals at the helm of the corridors of justice. This was after the lawyer had accused him of being one of the most corrupt individual at the Trade Union organisation.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers secretary general is one of the few who happens to be the beneficiary of Atwoli's verbal attacks. Mr Wilson Sossion was facing intensified opposition on his position in the union. Other rival unions including KUPPET were on his neck and determined to overthrow him.
In relief, Atwoli would come out and condemn those behind Sossion's tribulations and promised to deal with them ruthlessly. He made clear of this during one of the labour day celebration function. Thereafter, the wrangles subsequently disappeared. The latest victim of the COTU boss is the safaricom chief executive officer Peter Ndegwa. He has been accused by Atwoli for being unfair to workers plights. According to him, several workers have been asked to reapply for their jobs in an indication that he might be on the process of firing them.
He has alleged that the CEO is concentrating much on how to maximize profits to the company at the expense of poor users of the company's network. He has promised to advocate for the firing of Mr Ndegwa if he doesn't change his managerial skills.
