Deputy President William Ruto is the political leader who has made a lot of gains and in roads into the Mount Kenya region. Through his campaigns with President Kenyatta in both 2013 and 2017, the Deputy predident has made a lot of support on the region in Central Kenya and his efforts were seen in the Kiambaa by elections where his United Democratic Alliance candidate won against that of Jubilee party.
DP Ruto allies from Mount Kenya include Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa, Murang' a Senator Irungu Kang' ata, Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba, Githunguri MP Gabriel Kago, Nakuru East' s David Gikaria and Samuel Gachobe of Subukia.
According to the Saturday Newspaper, these leaders now want DP Ruto to form coalitions with other leaders in preparedness for the 2022 general elections. DP Ruto' s Mount Kenya allies have told him to form Coalitions to increase his chances of winning the the 2022 elections rather doing it all alone.
" Do not go it alone, DP Ruto' s allies in Mt Kenya Region are now putting pressure on him to forge an alliance to shore up his chance of winning in the elections next year, " Saturday Nation newspaper quoted a section of the Mount Kenya leaders.
